LAKE LANIER IS FULL, CLEAR & LOW 80’S

This Lake Lanier Bass report is from Jimbo Mathley. www.jimboonlanier.com 770 542 7764

Bass fishing is good. The main lake fish have been up shallower on the points and humps and are continuing to move out deeper. However, you can still find them up shallow early in the mornings. In general though, look for 15 to 25 feet to be holding right now, especially on the rocky places with brush. There are now lots of fish getting in and around the brush in 20 to 25 feet, and they will eat. You can get them to come up for top water and swim baits at times, if not that, a fluke and an under spin has been good. Last resort is the Shaky Head and jig which have been very good at times as well. Do not discount these baits. Every day is a process of figuring out how aggressive the fish are and how far they will come up. If the answer is not at all, then the jig and worm are good choices. There is still a very good early top water bite. Call me as I have some dates open!

This Lake Lanier Striper report is from Captain Ken West and Captain Mike Maddalena of Big Fish On! Guide Service, 404 561 2564. www.bigfishonguide.com

Striper fishing is very good. We are continuing to catch good numbers of fish including Stripers of all sizes, spotted bass and catfish. The top water bite has slowed a little but you can still pick up a couple of fish early casting a Spook, Red Fin or Chug bug to points and humps. Blueback herring pulled on free lines was once again the most productive technique last week. Fish a mixture of weighted and un-weighted free lines 80 to 100 feet behind the boat. Target points and Humps over a 30 foot bottom. Once the sun gets up move to deeper water and be ready to switch to down rods when you see schools at 25 to 35 feet. Pull the umbrella rigs at 60 to 80 feet behind the boat and target 30 to 50 foot bottom when you are searching for fish. You can also use the Umbrella rig to get a reaction bite when the Stripers will not eat! Pitching Herring and casting top water baits to points and humps early is always a good idea. The South end of the Lake is heating up and will only get better as the water continues to warm. Flowery Branch Creek, Bald Ridge Creek, Shoal Creek and Two Mile Creek are all good places to start on the south end. We have also had some reports of good numbers of fish in Wahoo Creek and Ada Creek. The water temperature is in the high 70’s during the day. The water is stained in the creeks and clear on the main lake. The lake is at full pool. We are offering Father’s Day Gift Certificates at a 10% discount. The gift certificates are good for one year from the date of purchase. To book your Striper fishing trip or purchase a gift certificate call Big Fish On Guide Service at 404 561 2564 or contact us on our web site. www.bigfishonguide.com

This Lake Lanier Crappie report is from Dan Saknini, Member of the Lanier Crappie Angler’s Club. For more information, see our club’s website, laniercrappieanglers.net

Water temperatures are in the low eighties. For the avid crappie fishermen who don’t mind dodging the traffic on the lake, crappie fishing remains good to excellent. The early morning bite is best, from thirty minutes before daylight to about 9:30, longer if cloudy. Target deeper docks with structure below the surface, especially if you can find a dock with a sizeable brush pile just outside it, which is an added bonus. The docks that are producing have twenty to thirty foot depths, and are closer to the main creek channels. With this condition, these fish have the best of both worlds the cover of the brush pile, then the shade of the dock during the middle of the day. If you can find a dock with an active beaver, that is even better. Look for limbs and branches sticking out of a dock. Also target submerged brush piles in at least twenty to thirty feet of water. Fish the brush pile from all angles. This time of year, the fish are holding tight on the brush. Soft body and hair jigs are producing fish. Because the fish are deep, the sensitivity of the bite seems less, so watching your line is VERY important. If you see or sense any unusual movement, set the hook! For the night owls, bridge fishing is picking up. The sign of a good bridge is if you see dangling ropes from above. That typically means it is being fished by regular night fishermen. You will need a fishing light, and it can easily take an hour or two for the light to draw the bait and the bait to draw the crappie. Stay safe on the water, wear your life jacket!

WEST POINT LAKE IS FULL, CLEAR & LOW 80’S

Bass fishing is good. The top water bite is good and jerk baits remain a good follow up bait along with flukes. Main lake points and secondary points continue to produce good size bass, but don’t forget to fish the sides of these points as well. The Carolina rig is another good method that has been very productive this past week. Don’t spend too much time in one area as anglers are having to move about the lake to catch a good limit. No more than two good keepers are coming from one point or area. Top water can work anytime of the day. Zara Spooks, buzz baits and even Pop R’s are working. The bass will bite floating worms or lizards, spinner baits, stick baits, live lizards and top water lures. The Zoom trick worm in almost any color will get strikes and use light 8 pound Sufis Siege line on a spinning reel. We recommend a Mustad 2/0 hook.

LAKE ALLATOONA IS FULL, STAINED & 80’S

Bass fishing is fair and the fish are fully settled to the summertime pattern. Some fish can be found in mid depth brush but no large numbers to be found. Fish can be found on the ends of points new the river channel. The medium to deep crank bait like the Spro big papa, the little john DD and Little John tiny DD are good search bait. The 3/8 or 3/16 ounce green pumpkin jig and jig head are a pretty solid plan to put fish in the boat right now. Be sure to have the drop shot ready when you pull up over the fish.

This Lake Allatoona Fishing Guides Report has been brought to you exclusively by Robert Eidson of First Bite Guide Service, 770 827 6282. www.firstbiteguideservice.com Lake Allatoona, Georgia email: eidson6260@att.net

Line side fishing is great. The summer bite is in full swing. All the major creeks are producing good numbers of fish. The down line bite is nothing short of incredible. These fish are scattered in the water column from anywhere from 13 feet to 40 feet deep. So for right now forget about that 18 foot factor I talk about all the time. Trust your Lowrance and if you are marking fish at 50 feet, go get them. Our best bite right now has been mid lake from Kellogg to Clear Creek. There has also been a very good bite within sight of the Little River Bridge on the north end of the lake. Plus Clark Creek and Tanyard Creek is producing some nice fish right now on the south end of the lake. This is the best time of the year to introduce the kids to fishing. Give me a call at 770 827 6282 and book your family trip today.

LAKE HARTWELL IS FULL, CLEAR & UPPER 70’S

Bass fishing is good. The bigger, more active bass have begun to move back to the primary lake points with some holding on to the secondary points in the larger coves. Use the Number Five Jointed Shad Rap. The Rat L Traps are also putting bass in the boat along with the trick worms in green pumpkin. Fish any wood and rocks during this period. Boat docks are still holding bass during the mid day period when the sun is out and the sky is blue. A slow presentation seems to be working the best during these hard to fish periods. Expect a good early morning bite and it will slow down as the sun comes over the treetops. Try the Alabama rig with small Zoom pearl fluke trailers out on the main lake points.

LAKE RUSSELL IS FULL, CLEAR & MID 80’S

Bass fishing is good and there is a great top water bite even in the middle of the day. A small Spittin Image or Pop R shad top water bait will work. The bait fish are migrating to these pockets during the day, and the bass seem to be keying on these areas. You may have to run into several pockets or ditches to locate which ones are holding the baitfish and bass. Once you locate these areas throw the Strike King black or brown jig and the Blade Runner rigged with a Zoom Fluke down the middle of these pockets. As the water continues to warm, you can use a jerk bait to trigger a reaction strike in these same areas. Use the Zoom Baby Brush Hog to any wood you find while fishing these areas because the fish will use this cover all day for ambush points.

CLARKS HILL IS FULL, CLEAR & MID 80’s

Bass fishing is fair during the day and head up the rivers for cooler water and the fish are a little more active. The bass are off the river points and stump rows. Flipping a dark Zoom U tail on a Texas rig greens on wood and brush very tight bank and river structure, can draw a strike. Later in the day, try casting or flipping the river docks and shallow bank with a Zoom motor oil lizard. Main lake docks and sea walls are fair and a buzz bait early and late. Night fishing is fair with the Texas rigged red or black worms on any dock with lights. On the warmer afternoons, you can see bass cruising in the backs of many pockets. Spinnerbaits, crank baits, jerk baits and jigs will work but the spinnerbait is a great all day bait.

LAKE SEMINOLE IS DOWN 1 FOOT, SLIGHT STAIN & LOW 80’S MATT BATY

Bass fishing has been a little slow but is now picking up. The Flint River is slam full of grass this year. The grass lines are already topped out all over the lake and the frogging and flipping bite is turning on. Look for main lake grass lines that have hydrilla and some type of bait present, whether it is bream or shad. Always have 2 types of frogs rigged up, one for swimming over the holes in the grass, and one for fishing over the thick stuff. For a swimming frog, opt for a 3.5″ Big Bite Baits Top Toad in Pearl or either a buzzing warmouth. Both of these can be rigged on a 5/0 Gamakatsu Superline hook and 60 lb. Sunline FX2 Braid. Also a Spro Bronzeye Popper in Outback is good for fishing over the thick stuff and slowing down in the holes. For flipping look for the Hydrilla mats that are topped out closest to deeper water. Use a 1 1/4 ounce Fish Catchin Fool Tungsten weight, a FCF bobber stopper, a 5/0 Gamakatsu heavy cover flipping hook, and a new 5″ Big Bite baits Fighting Frog in Hematoma. Heavy braid is a must for this technique, same as frogging. If frogging and flippin is not your deal, then use your Lowrance electronics and look for humps on the main lake where the Hydrilla has not yet topped out. You can still fish crank bait or a Chatterbaits over these areas. A shallow running crank bait works well on a 7′ Medium Action Rod such as a Duckett Terex and a long casting reel such as a Lew’s Tournament Pro in 6:4:1 gear ratio. The same set up works great for Chatterbaits also. The fish on these humps could either be on the points or on top so sometimes you have to switch techniques to locate the fish on that particular day.

LAKE GEORGE IS FULL, CLEAR & LOW 80’S

Bass fishing is good. The lake is mostly clear with the river showing good stain color. Below the causeway there is a clear green color. Early in the morning bass are slamming a white Lunker Lure or a bone Zara Spook Jr. in a foot of water up the river in heavy grass and willow bushes. Be ready for lots of short strikes so add a trailer hook. As the sun is high, the bass will move to the shady coves and under the overhanging trees. Later, use the Texas rigged trick worm in watermelon red flake. Have the Carolina rigged finesse worm in kudzu with a dyed chartreuse tail ready all day and work the heavy brush. Later this month the fish will be moving more onto the ledges and deep brush but the good fish will still stay in the grass and willows as long as the water stays up.

WEISS LAKE IS FULL, CLEAR, 85 DEGREES

From: Mark Collins Guide Service www.markcollinsguideservice.com 256 779 3387

Bass fishing is good and some are still being caught shallow and some have moved to deeper structure near the spawning areas. Lizards, jigs, creature baits, spinner baits, Carolina rigs and medium running crank baits are catching fish. Flipping docks with jigs and worms is producing some good fish also. The spotted bass are on rocky banks, shallow humps, shallow road beds and main lake points.

Striper fishing is good and they are being caught in the main lake on the old river channel ledges and in Little River and the lower Chattooga River, on live Shad down lined 8 to 12 feet and on flat lines.

Crappie fishing is fair and the fish have spawned, most fish that have spawned have moved back to deeper water to cover and on the bottom. Spider rigging with live minnows over cover in 12 to 16 feet of water is producing some fair fishing. Night fishing under lights and on docks is starting to produce some Crappie.

Now available for sale, 50 proven GPS waypoints by Guide Mark Collins for off shore structure for Bass and Crappie fishing on Weiss Lake, Alabama. Price is $99.00 for 50 waypoints, (waypoints are not refundable) Contact Ken Sturdivant at ken@southernfising.com

LAKE OCONEE IS FULL, STAINED UP THE RIVERS LIGHT STAIN ON MAIN LAKE RICHLAND CREEK CLEAR, 83 TO 90 DEGREES

Bass fishing is fair. A buzz bait fished on the sea walls and rip rap at first light is still a good way to start your day. Keep a trick worm ready as a back up bait if the fish miss the buzz bait. Next move to the boat docks in water from 5 feet to 10 feet deep and work a shaky head under these docks. Some fish are starting to show up on the humps on the south end of the lake and in Richland Creek. A Carolina rig worm fished on these humps will draw a strike. Most of these fish are in the 8 to 12 foot range. There are also some bigger fish on the wood structure in the rivers above I20. A jig fished in the structure can produce a good fish. Crank baits fished on the bridge rip rap when Georgia Power is pulling water will also produce fish.

Striper report by Captain Mark Smith, Reel Time guide service. Call 404 803 0741

reeltime@bellsouth.net

Striper fishing is good. Most of the fish have moved to the humps and points from mid lake to the dam. We are still catching some fish on live shad fished on down lines on the humps and points. The umbrella rig bite has taken off over the past week. We fish a 4 arm 9 jig rig at 3mph 100 feet behind the boat to target these fish.

Crappie fishing is good. The fish are in the mouths of the creek and large coves. They have moved into the timber and you can find them with your Lowrance in the top of the trees. When you find them drop a live minnow into the school and start catching.

Make sure you stop by Sugar Creek Marina and pick up your spoons and all your tackle needs. You can also book your Crappie and striper trips with Reel Time Guide Service at 404 803 0741 or reeltime@bellsouth.net

LAKE SINCLAIR IS FULL, 88 DEGREES, STAINED UP RIVER, MAIN LAKE CLEAR, BY MATT HENRY, CALL 770 361 4210 (cell) or 478 451 0167 (SINCLAIR MARINA)

WWW.SINCLAIRMARINA.COM MATT@SINCLAIRMARINA.COM

Bass fishing is good. Multiple patterns and techniques are working right now as the fish are still scattered all over the lake. There is still a good shallow bite going on in the pockets in 3 to 6 feet of water in both Little River and the Oconee River. Chartreuse colored buzz baits and spinner baits will catch fish around wood cover and sea walls for the first hour of the morning. For the remainder of the morning, throw a Bass Hound square bill crank bait around lay down trees and docks near the mouth of spawning pockets. Midday when the bite slows down, it is time to move out deep or skip plastics under shady docks. A 3/16 ounce Buckeye spot remover with a green pumpkin Zoom trick worm has been best for catching fish under the docks. Make sure to get your bait as far under the docks as possible. A Strike King 6xd crank bait in a sexy shad color and a Carolina rigged Zoom trick worm will catch fish on the offshore points and humps. These fish will be in 15 to 18 feet of water on these offshore structures.

JACKSON LAKE IS FULL, 80’S & CLEAR

Bass fishing is fair on worms and crank baits. The lake is full and this will help the bass spend the summer close to or under the deeper docks. In very tight in cover. The lake is clear main lake with a slight stain in the rivers and creeks. Crank baits are fair and a Shad Rap is a good all day bait. Use a red shad Culprit worm on a brass and glass Texas rig is the best bet on the docks. For a big fish, head up the rivers and flip a dark jig and pig or a worm in the larger sizes on the downstream current pockets. Never overlook a jig even for shallow bass on this lake up the rivers. Blacks, blues and greens are good choices and add a Zoom salt trailer in matching colors.
